Named after the Japanese principle of finding beauty in simplicity, the Kanso Single Bed with Tatami is designed to create a calm, uncluttered space where every element has a purpose. Its low frame in solid lamellar beech wood combines refined proportions with lasting strength, while a recessed cut beneath the frame softens its appearance and allows air to circulate freely below the tatami. Resting on a rigid beech slatted base, the tatami provides a naturally breathable, thermoregulating sleeping surface and releases its delicate natural scent of rice straw, bringing an authentic touch of Japanese tradition to the bedroom.
Designed for both traditional and contemporary sleeping styles, Kanso is ideal for Japanese futons as well as modern memory foam and spring mattresses. Standing only 14 cm high, its minimalist silhouette enhances the feeling of openness while maintaining a reassuring sense of stability. Complete the bed with the matching headboard and bedside tables to create a harmonious, functional interior where simplicity, natural materials, and lasting comfort come together.

Our colour palette ranges from a transparent finish, through a variety of natural wood shades, to white, grey and black, making it easy to integrate the furniture into different interiors and styles. To help you choose, we offer a free sample delivery service, allowing you to see the quality and grain of the wood in person and compare the different finishes. To request samples, contact us and let us know which colours you’d like to see.
In addition to our standard range, you can also choose a custom RAL colour to match each piece precisely to your existing furnishings or the requirements of a specific interior design project. In this case, we’ll prepare a sample in your chosen colour and send it to you for approval before applying the finish to your furniture.

Our tatami mats are made from 100% natural straw with no synthetic fillings, featuring a visible weave on both the top and bottom that reflects their high-quality craftsmanship.
The straw releases a subtle, natural scent, creating a calm and welcoming atmosphere. The dense weave provides excellent breathability and thermal insulation, keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter, and helping maintain an ideal microclimate. The firm surface supports the body evenly, encouraging proper posture and relieving muscle tension.
To showcase the weave aesthetically, we recommend pairing the bed with a slightly narrower mattress, leaving a portion of the tatami exposed on either side.
If varnished, the wood can be cleaned with a sponge dampened with a little water and, if necessary, a specific wood cleaner. If left untreated, the wood can only be vacuumed or dusted. It should absolutely not be wet, to prevent the surface from becoming rough. If this happens, however, the surface can be smoothed again by sanding it with a gentle sandpaper (180 grit).
The tatami mat can be cleaned with a dry cloth or even a vacuum cleaner to remove dust, even from the middle of the weave. These mats must always be kept completely dry, so it's advisable to check them occasionally in the colder months to ensure they aren't absorbing moisture. If the environment in which they are located is very humid, simply airing them may not be enough; in this case, we recommend using a dehumidifier.
