The Air Single Bed with Tatami with a 16 cm high frame in beech wood captures the essence of resting on a tatami mat close to the floor, raised just enough by wooden slats to promote air circulation beneath the mats, while preserving true Japanese style. The tatami releases a delicate natural scent and offers breathable and heat-insulating support, while the slightly recessed frame design visually lightens the structure. Customizable in size and color, it easily pairs with any mattress, from traditional futons to modern foam or spring models.

Product features

Immersed in the natural scent of tatami and beech wood, the  Air Single Bed with Tatami invites you to rediscover the simplicity, harmony, and calm of an authentic Japanese Zen retreat.

Standing just 16 cm high, it is ideal for compact spaces such as attics or lofts. The rigid beech slats beneath the tatami promote optimal air circulation, keeping the mat fresh and dry. A subtle recess at the base of the frame lightens the structure and accentuates the clean lines of its minimalist design.

Compatible with all types of mattresses, from natural cotton futons to contemporary foam or spring models, Air comes in a range of sizes and finishes. A bed that brings comfort, simplicity, and a true sense of well-being to your bedroom

Finishings

In the product configuration options, you can choose untreated beech, for a natural and authentic look, or opt for one of our eco-friendly, water-based finishes, developed to enhance the wood grain while protecting the surface over time. Our palette, inspired by different wood species, allows the piece to integrate naturally and elegantly into a wide range of interiors. Free samples are available on request, so you can see the finishes in person.

Beyond our standard range, you may also select a custom RAL colour by providing the numerical code. In this case, we prepare a dedicated sample and send it to you for approval before proceeding with the final finish of the furniture.

Our tatami mats are made from 100% natural straw with no synthetic fillings, featuring a visible weave on both the top and bottom that reflects their high-quality craftsmanship.

The straw releases a subtle, natural scent, creating a calm and welcoming atmosphere. The dense weave provides excellent breathability and thermal insulation, keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter, and helping maintain an ideal microclimate. The firm surface supports the body evenly, encouraging proper posture and relieving muscle tension.

To showcase the weave aesthetically, we recommend pairing the bed with a slightly narrower mattress, leaving a portion of the tatami exposed on either side.

If varnished, the wood can be cleaned with a sponge dampened with a little water and, if necessary, a specific wood cleaner. If left untreated, the wood can only be vacuumed or dusted. It should absolutely not be wet, to prevent the surface from becoming rough. If this happens, however, the surface can be smoothed again by sanding it with a gentle sandpaper (180 grit).

The tatami mat can be cleaned with a dry cloth or even a vacuum cleaner to remove dust, even from the middle of the weave. These mats must always be kept completely dry, so it's advisable to check them occasionally in the colder months to ensure they aren't absorbing moisture. If the environment in which they are located is very humid, simply airing them may not be enough; in this case, we recommend using a dehumidifier.
