Product features

Discover our Set of 4 Tatami Mats, designed to create a spacious and versatile tatami room for sleeping, shiatsu, massage, martial arts, yoga, or meditation. As evening falls, simply roll out one or more futons on the tatami to transform the space into a generous low bed in authentic Japanese style.Equally, the tatami mats can be used as a permanent bed base for any type of mattress, including memory foam and pocket spring mattresses.

With its generous dimensions, this set is also ideal for creating a cosy family bed with multiple mattresses. The low sleeping height encourages an independent sleeping environment, allowing even younger children to climb in and out of bed with ease.

Thanks to their weight and the natural grip of the woven surface, the tatami mats remain securely in place without the need for fasteners.

To complete the composition, an optional solid wood frame is available to elegantly surround the tatami mats and protect their edges. Its recessed underside creates a lighter visual appearance, giving the bed an almost floating effect.

For regular cleaning, we recommend using a vacuum cleaner. For occasional stains, wipe the surface with a soft cloth lightly moistened with a solution of lukewarm water and vinegar. We do not recommend using chemical detergents on this product.

Tatami mats are made from natural rice straw and are therefore sensitive to moisture. If they are used in rooms where moisture may accumulate, such as ground-floor rooms or spaces with limited ventilation, they should be raised off the floor to allow air to circulate underneath. For this reason, they are best used on beds or other raised structures. In well-ventilated rooms on upper floors, tatami can be placed directly on the floor.

We also recommend lifting the tatami occasionally, especially during the first year of use, to check that no condensation has formed on the underside.

Made entirely from natural straw, the tatami mats offer a unique sensory experience. The fresh scent of straw and the delicate woven texture underfoot contribute to an atmosphere of calm and well-being. Their internal structure, filled with natural air pockets, makes them highly breathable and naturally insulating, helping maintain a comfortable temperature throughout the year.

The quality of our tatami mats is immediately recognizable by the double woven rush covering on both the top and bottom surfaces, a hallmark of premium-quality tatami. Their generous 5.5 cm thickness and the high density of the compressed straw core (up to 32 kg for a 100 × 200 cm tatami) provide exceptional stability and durability over time.

Exterior (Omote): woven rush straw on both the top and bottom.

Filling (Doku): 100% natural rice straw.

Edge along the long sides (Heri): Black fabric 70% cotton and 30% polyester.

Manufacture: our tatami mats are handmade in China, in specialist workshops that carry on a long tradition of crafting tatami mats and woven straw products.
