Futon mattresses are synonymous with versatility and allow you to use the same room for different purposes throughout the day. In Japan, futons are usually laid out on tatami mats in the evening for sleeping, then rolled up and put away during the day. The cotton and double coconut fibre futon is inspired by the traditional Japanese futon, but features a richer filling, making it more suitable for daily use on a bed, as it cannot be folded.

Comprising 9 layers of carded cotton alternating with 2 layers of natural coconut fibre, the cotton and double coconut fibre futon offers a unique balance. The cotton offers excellent breathability and regulates temperature whilst you sleep. The two layers of coconut fibre provide firm support, maintaining the mattress’s height and shape over time and improving air circulation, thereby contributing to superior sleep quality.

This futon is a firm mattress: the cotton layers offer comfort and softness, whilst the coconut fibre layers balance the composition, ensuring firmness and support.

The futon cover is offered in a variety of colors presented in the selection above. The handcrafted step-stitching and edge seams perfectly match the color of the futon cover, ensuring a seamless and aesthetically pleasing look.

Care and maintenance

Futons, being quilted mattresses, do not feature a removable cover. In the event of stains, we recommend using a suitable stain remover for spot treatment. To safeguard your futon from potential stains and dust accumulation, we suggest utilizing a removable cover available in the Accessories section.

Additionally, it is advisable to periodically flip the futon to maintain the density of its cotton layers. To ensure longevity, the futon should be occasionally rolled up and allowed to air out, facilitating the release of any absorbed moisture from the environment. We recommend doing this at least 4 times a year.

If the futon filling contains two layers of coconut fibre, it cannot be folded. In this case, we recommend turning the mattress from time to time to maintain an even density of the cotton and/or wool layers. To air the mattress, you can leave it on the bed with the window open for about an hour, then turn it over and leave it to air for another hour.
