The Zafu Cushion is typically used for Zen meditation exercises and is available in two sizes, 30 cm or 40 cm in diameter. The diameter refers to the overall size, not the inner circle. It is firmly padded with pure cotton to support the body properly during prolonged sitting. Cotton is light, cool, breathable and hypoallergenic. The cushion itself is in natural white cotton while the removable cover included in the price is available in a wide variety of colours.

Zafu cushions are mainly used for meditative practices where the knees rest on the floor. They can also be used as a seat for everyday relaxation and as a statement piece in an oriental-inspired interior. This firm and stable meditation cushion promotes concentration by naturally aligning the shoulders and hips, allowing correct breathing and posture to avoid overloading the crossed legs.

The Zafu also pair beautifully with a Zabuton, a square cushion also filled with natural, pure cotton fibres that provides proper support when sitting on the floor.

Care and maintenance

The Zafu cushion comes with a removable cover that can be easily machine washed on a gentle cycle at 40°C. The inner cushion is not washable. We recommend removing the cover and placing the cushion outdoors in the sun for a few hours to sanitize it.
