One of the defining qualities of Japanese futons is their remarkable versatility. Traditionally laid out on tatami flooring at night and stored away during the day, they allowed a single space to serve multiple purposes—an approach that still reflects a perfect balance of comfort and practicality.

The Comfort Futon – Wool, Cotton & Latex features a rich cotton batting, finished on both sides with a plush layer of pure wool, while the centre can be configured with one or two 3 cm latex layers. The result is a softly supportive surface that adapts to the body’s contours and helps relieve pressure.

Each material plays a distinct role: wool enhances breathability and naturally regulates temperature, keeping the futon warm in winter and cool and dry in warmer months. The dense cotton core provides stable, consistent support, while the latex layers add elasticity and improve overall ergonomics. They also help the futon maintain its height and resilience over time, retaining their height while continuing to adapt to the body’s shape.

If you are looking for a slightly thinner, more lightweight option, explore our Slim Futon – Wool, Cotton & Latex.

keyboard_arrow_downCare and maintenance

When first removing the futon from its packaging, we recommend folding or rolling it in the opposite direction to how it was packed. This helps smooth out the cover and filling.

Futons, being quilted mattresses, do not feature a removable cover. In the event of stains, we recommend using a suitable stain remover for spot treatment. To safeguard your futon from potential stains and dust accumulation, we suggest utilizing a removable cover available in the Accessories section.

Additionally, it is advisable to periodically flip the futon to maintain the density of its cotton layers. To ensure longevity, the futon should be occasionally rolled up and allowed to air out, facilitating the release of any absorbed moisture from the environment. We recommend doing this at least 4 times a year.

If the futon filling contains two layers of coconut fibre, it cannot be folded. In this case, we recommend turning the mattress from time to time to maintain an even density of the cotton and/or wool layers. To air the mattress, you can leave it on the bed with the window open for about an hour, then turn it over and leave it to air for another hour.

The futon cover is available in a variety of colors, shown in the selection above. Hand-sewn seams are carefully matched to the fabric, creating a cohesive and refined look.

Natural white futons always feature white felts in the tufting points. For colored futons, you can choose between matching fabric buttons or black felt in the configuration settings.
